Crested Butte is officially my favorite place in Colorado. Although there was a little lack of snow when we arrived on friday night when we woke the next morning we had about 5 inches of pow to cut into on the slopes and it continued to snow the entire day.
That evening we headed to downtown Crested Butte to grab a burger and a beer and see the sites. I like downtown Crested Butte because it has a great old town feel and not a snobby, rich feel like some other ski towns. Everyone we spoke with was very laid-back and easy to talk to.
We planed to head to the Taylor River on Sunday on our way home to wet a line for a couple hours so we stopped in to Dragonfly Anglers fly shop to get some last minute info from a local. We were able to speak with Rod, the shop owner and guide for over 25 years in the area. Rod was great to talk to and was very honest about the Taylor. I hope to see him up in Alaska soon.
The trip was great, the snow was good, and it was nice to see some fish and make a few casts (with no hook ups). We defiantly want to get back there sooner than later.
